Renault Bushings: Polyurethane Parts for the Logan, Megane, Scenic, and Espace

Author: Yehor Medunytsia · 12.05.2026

Short answer: PolyPro polyurethane bushings fit the Renault Logan, Megane, Scenic, and Espace across all major generations. They last 3-5 times longer than rubber equivalents, withstand temperatures from −40 to +70°C, and resist road salt and chemicals. Prices start from 350 UAH per piece, with a 12-month warranty and no mileage limit.

What Is a Renault Bushing?

A bushing is a flexible insert made of rubber and metal (or polyurethane and metal) that's pressed into the control arms, subframe, and suspension beam. It absorbs vibration and impact from the road, keeping them from reaching the body and the steering wheel. Without a healthy bushing, the suspension starts to knock, the steering wheel wanders, and the tires wear unevenly.

This matters especially for French-brand Renaults: the Logan and Megane spend a lot of time on rough Ukrainian roads, so the suspension here wears out actively. The rubber-and-metal construction of stock bushings starts to break down after just 30,000-50,000 km, while PolyPro polyurethane equivalents are built for 100,000-150,000 km.

Which Renault Bushings Wear Out First

Front Control Arm Bushings

The front control arms on the Renault Logan and Megane are the lower lateral arms of a MacPherson strut suspension. Each control arm carries two bushings: a front one and a rear one — four per axle in total. The rear bushing of the front control arm wears out faster, since it takes most of the load under braking and acceleration. The tell-tale sign is knocking in the front suspension over bumps and when revving the engine.

The front control arm bushing for Renault is one of the most frequently ordered items in our catalog. Recommended inspection interval: every 30,000-40,000 km, or as soon as knocking appears.

Rear Beam Bushings (Logan/Scenic)

The Renault Logan (Generation I, launched in 2004, and Generation II) has a semi-independent rear beam — a torsion beam. It has four mounting points to the body, each fitted with a rear beam bushing. As these parts wear out, the car starts to "wander" in a straight line, and a characteristic hum or knock appears from the rear.

The Renault Espace has an independent rear suspension — control arms with separate rear control arm bushings instead of a beam, with more mounting points than the Logan's setup. The Scenic, however, shares the Logan's torsion-beam design at the rear, so its beam bushings follow the same principle, just under gentler operating conditions.

Subframe and Sway Bar Bushings

Front subframe bushings mount the subframe to the body — they isolate the body from engine vibration and from front suspension impacts at the same time. Worn subframe bushings show up as a dull knock on acceleration and vibration at higher speeds. Sway bar bushings are the cheapest part and, at the same time, one of the most noticeable: a worn bushing produces a piercing squeak whenever the body rolls in a corner.

Renault Logan and Megane: Suspension Specifics

Logan (Generations I and II)

The Renault Logan is a car with a simple, reliable suspension — but that same simplicity means the control arms and beam carry the full load without help from complex kinematics. Up front is a classic MacPherson strut with a lower lateral control arm. At the rear is a torsion beam. The total number of suspension bushings runs to around 10-12, depending on the trim level. The critical points are the rear bushing of the front control arm and the beam mounts. On Ukrainian roads, expect 40,000-60,000 km from rubber parts and 120,000-150,000 km from PolyPro.

Megane and Scenic

The Renault Megane (Generations II and III) has a more complex front suspension with an additional link on the control arm. The Megane's rear suspension is a torsion beam on regular trims, with a multi-link setup on the top RS/Sport variants of the Megane III. The Renault Scenic, built on the same platform, shares the Megane's torsion-beam rear axle — its beam bushings wear at a similar rate. Scenic bushings are usually replaced as a full set rather than one at a time.

Espace and Grand Espace

The Renault Espace is a heavier, larger car with fully independent suspension on both axles. It has more bushing mounting points than the Logan or Megane, and each one carries a heavier load due to the car's mass. The Grand Espace (the extended-wheelbase Espace) shares the same components, but its suspension carries even more load due to the longer wheelbase. For these cars, we recommend replacing bushings as a full-axle set rather than one at a time.

Polyurethane or Rubber Bushings for Renault — Which to Choose

Popular auto parts brands making rubber bushings — Lemforder, Optimal — build quality parts, but they still have a limited service life. PolyPro polyurethane bushings are on a different level of durability:

Property Rubber (Lemforder, Optimal) PolyPro Polyurethane
Service life 30,000-50,000 km 100,000-150,000 km
Temperature range −20…+50°C −40…+70°C
Resistance to road chemicals Low High
Resistance to oils/acids Low High
Price Cheaper From 350 UAH
Warranty Usually none 12 months

Polyurethane's main advantage is that it doesn't "give" under road chemicals and oils. A rubber bushing on a city car that bathes in de-icing chloride salts every winter degrades twice as fast as its rated service life would suggest. PolyPro polyurethane bushings on a Renault keep their shape and stiffness even after 5 years of active use — unlike rubber equivalents, which start cracking and crumbling after just 2-3 years.

How to Replace Renault Bushings

When to replace bushings isn't just a matter of mileage — it's about the symptoms. If you hear knocking over speed bumps, feel the car "float" when changing lanes, or notice uneven tire wear — it's time to have the suspension inspected. For a detailed look at the symptoms, see our article How to Replace Bushings.

Replacement Procedure

A mechanic removes the control arm or beam from the car, presses out the old bushing, and presses in the new one. PolyPro polyurethane parts install the same way rubber ones do — no special tools are needed. Labor at a shop: from 400 UAH per axle. If the beam or control arms are seized, freeing the seized bolts and links costs from 1,150 UAH — a separate line item.

Wheel Alignment After Replacement

After replacing bushings, a wheel alignment is mandatory. Fitting new parts changes the suspension geometry, and without adjustment the tires will start wearing unevenly within the first 5,000-10,000 km. For more on why this matters, see wheel alignment after replacement.

Approximate cost:

  • Diagnostics: 400 to 1,000 UAH
  • Alignment on one axle: 500 to 1,200 UAH
  • Alignment on both axles: 900 to 1,800 UAH
